Reflection Point – Ending the year with intention

I have written and re-written this final reflection point for the year.

So much has happened in recent days, particularly on Sunday at Bondi Beach – that it would be remiss not to acknowledge the loss, pain and fear being experienced across our nation.

I am reminded even more how crucial it is to lead with care, intention and compassion in these coming days as the year comes to a close.

Which only creates more importance in what we can bring as leaders with care and intention for ending the year well with those that matter most to us, for those that support us as leaders every day, and for those that assist us in delivering the critical outcomes needed throughout the year.

As I reflect on ending the year well, I often remember something a client of mine shared with me.  He was given a gift and card from his leader every Christmas, they had worked together over many years.  He had spoken of the anticipation of the handwritten card he would receive – the gift was always appreciated but it was the thoughtful and considered words and encouragement he would receive that meant so much. Words of acknowledged growth and improvement both personal and professionally, of significant achievements and sincere well wishes for a restful break.  A small gesture but one made with intention and which made for a good ending for the year.

Here is my wish for you as you end the year.

That you will find moments to acknowledge with intention the people that support you, however you are able to do that, in creating a good ending to the year for yourself and others.

That you will find time to pause and rest over Christmas (or whenever your break is) to reflect on your growth in 2025 and the things (or people) you are grateful for.

That you will be able to intentionally spend time with your loved ones, to love and to find joy in all those precious moments.

I wish you a wonderful Christmas – may it be filled with joy, peace and love.

Take a few moments to reflect on the below.
